    Great to hear from you.

    The background was kind of weird. I first did the ink wash and for that I used a "mask" of rubber cement. That did not really work too well because the border lines were made with a marker and that started running....so I kept putting more and more wash on. Then I did some spray, but in order to do that I also covered most of the picture with a "mask" that was a cutout shape from paper. I also added some sponge textures. Than I scanned it all in and cleaned it up as well as added some more digital grays...that was more of an afterthought because I was sitting at the computer waiting for someone to call and had a few minutes to mess around :)

    By the way, I have been following your blog about self publishing and I wanted to comment that I also had kind of a weird customer service experience with ComixPress. They just sort of seemed unprofessional about getting back with the info.
